How to contact us

Email contact@connectingtheconnected.com. You do not need to be a member or sign in. We accept reports from members, former members and people affected by content on CTC. Tell us if you need help making your report or a different accessible way to communicate.

You can use this route to:

You can also contact us to exercise your data rights or ask to end your membership. We distinguish these requests from complaints and apply the relevant legal time limits.

What to include

Describe what happened, where it happened and why you are concerned. Include a content link or other identifying details, the approximate date, relevant member names and a way to contact you. You do not need to identify a particular law or use a special form.

For private messages, provide the relevant text or context where safe and lawful; administrators cannot browse private messages through the normal administration tools. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes or unrelated private information.

Do not download, screenshot or forward suspected child sexual abuse images to us. Tell us where the material is located and why you are concerned, without attaching it. For other sensitive material, describe the concern first if you are unsure what to send.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. This inbox is not an emergency service and is not monitored continuously.

What happens next

Gabriel Hamburger currently handles reports for THE YARD (MANCHESTER) LTD. We record receipt, assess urgency, consider relevant information and take appropriate action. We may ask for further details or seek a response from the person concerned. Making a report does not automatically remove content or end anyone’s membership.

We aim to acknowledge reports within three working days and provide an outcome within 14 days. If we need longer, we will explain why and give an update. Urgent safety concerns and illegal content are dealt with as a priority; these targets do not postpone action required by law. We acknowledge data-protection complaints within 30 days in any event, investigate appropriately, provide progress information as appropriate and respond without undue delay.

Our available conduct measures are discussion, removal of posts or comments, and ending membership. We act swiftly to remove illegal content once aware of it and consider other appropriate steps to protect people. We keep a record of our assessment, reasons and action.

We will tell you the outcome of your complaint and explain it to the extent we reasonably can. We may withhold another person’s private information, confidential evidence or details whose disclosure would create a safety risk or breach the law. We will not use confidentiality as a blanket reason to say only that a complaint is closed.

Confidentiality

We restrict access to reports to people who need the information to handle the matter, obtain necessary advice or meet legal duties. We do not normally identify the reporter to the person reported unless reasonably necessary to handle the matter fairly, protect someone, or comply with law. We disclose no more than necessary. Where practicable and safe, we will discuss a proposed disclosure of your identity with you first.

We cannot guarantee anonymity: another person may infer who reported a matter, particularly in a small community. Raising a concern in good faith must not lead to retaliation.

Asking for a review

Reply to our decision or email the contact address, explaining what you think was wrong or providing new information. You do not need an active membership. We aim to respond to review requests within 14 days; if more time is needed, we will explain why.

CTC currently has one decision-maker, so a review is normally a reconsideration by Gabriel Hamburger, not an independent appeal. If your complaint is about Gabriel Hamburger personally, say so: he will record the conflict in the case record. You can also raise data-protection concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office and online-safety concerns with Ofcom (links below).

Where we identify an error, we take appropriate corrective action. This may include restoring access where justified. We cannot guarantee restoration of content that has been deleted. Another member’s decision to decline a connection is their own boundary and is not a moderation decision we overturn.

This procedure does not limit your legal rights. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office about data protection. You may also raise online-safety compliance concerns with Ofcom; Ofcom does not normally resolve individual content or membership disputes.

We handle complaint information as described in our Privacy Notice.
